No. 11 Men's Tennis Falls at No. 10 USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The 11th-ranked Baylor men's tennis team lost a road match at No. 10 USC on Sunday afternoon at Marks Stadium. The Bears are now 10-5 on the season while the Trojans' overall record moves 10-3. The Trojans swept doubles play to gain their first point. At No. 1, Baylor's David Galic and Jordan Rux put up a valiant fight against the Trojans' third-ranked Robert Farah and Kaes Van't Hof before falling in the tiebreaker, 8-7 (5). Baylor's 50th-ranked tandem of Lars Poerschke and Attila Bucko was edged by McNaughton/Sacks, 8-5, and Denes Lukacs and Dominik Mueller fell 8-3 at No. 3. Mueller, ranked No. 75, posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over USC's #95 Jason McNaughton at No. 5. The victory raised Mueller's dual match record to 13-1 and 22-6 on the season. At the No. 1 spot, Baylor's No. 15 Lars Poerschke, who had been sidelined recently by an ankle injury, trailed USC's #11 Robert Farah and retired due to injury in the second set. Junior Matt Brown, seeing his first action since late October due to injury, lost at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1 USC's Abdullah Magdas put the finishing touches on the victory for the Trojans by defeating Gwen Corches 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6. Baylor's next competition will be against UCLA in a 1:30 p.m. (PT) match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Monday (March 10).
