The Big 12 Conference has named 56 student-athletes to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Tennis Team, the league office announced. Earning first-team recognition from Baylor were Dominik Mueller and Matt Brown.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the men's tennis academic all-league squad consisted of 14 first team members combined with six on the second team. To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Brown is a junior finance major from Chesham, England, and was a first-team honoree for the second straight year and Mueller is a sophomore business major from Frankfurt, Germany.

In other tennis news, the Bears continue their climb up the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) rankings. In the ITA poll released today, Baylor now sits at No. 11.
