Hertfordshire teenager Hannah Burke is leading the way for British amateurs in the European Golf Association's 2007 women's rankings.

The only British players to rank above Hannah have both turned professional: Melissa Reid (Chevin) was placed fifth while Rachel Bell (Ganton) was 11th.

Hannah, whose club is Mid-Herts, is a student at Baylor University in Texas and her performance on the US women's college circuit has helped her into 22nd place in the rankings - ahead of all the other players from Great Britain and Ireland.

So far this college season Hannah, 19, has won one tournament and been runner-up in another.

Before she started her university career Hannah, whose home is in Welwyn Garden City, was an England girl international and a member of the English Ladies' Golf Association Futures U18 Squad.

Among the other English players in the rankings are the internationals Liz Bennett (Brokenhurst Manor) who is placed 31st and English strokeplay champion Jodi Ewart (Catterick) who is 36th.

The EGA rankings are based on results in selected open European events and in US college tournaments. Full details: www.ega-golf.ch
