Final Stats

The Baylor Lady Bears (18-8 overall, 1-2 Big 12) could not hold on to its 1-0 lead, as a two run home run by Sydni Jones led Iowa State (20-11 overall, 1-1 Big 12) to a 2-1 win at Getterman Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead in the third, as Nicole Wesley, Kirsten Shortridge and Tiffany Wesley recorded three straight infield singles to load the bases with one out. Brette Reagan followed with a single off the shortstop's glove, scoring N. Wesley, but Shortridge was thrown out at home trying to score.

Iowa State answered in the fourth as Jacquelyn Beatty singled and Jones hit a blast over the left field wall for a 2-1 advantage.

Baylor could not answer, as the Lady Bears did not record a hit the rest of the way and registered just one more base runner, N. Wesley on a walk.

Jenny Isham (10-2) picked up the loss after throwing 3.1 innings, giving up four hits, two runs and one walk. Brittany Turner came on in relief, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

The Cyclones out-hit the Lady Bears 7-5, and Rachel Zabriskie (10-3) picked up the complete game win.

The Lady Bears will step out of conference play on Tuesday, March 25 as they host Texas State at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
