Final Stats

Stillwater, Okla. -

The No. 18 Baylor Lady Bears (18-11, 1-4 Big 12) dropped its fourth straight contest, falling to Oklahoma State (16-17, 1-2 Big 12) 11-5 at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday. The loss marked the fourth straight for the Lady Bears.

Oklahoma State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first after a walk and an error at shortstop put two runners on with one out. After both runners advanced on an illegal pitch, a single up the middle scored two runners, and an error in center allowed Castle to reach third, and then score on a single at the next at-bat.

The Cowgirls added two more in the third with two doubles and a triple, giving OSU a 5-0 advantage.

The Lady Bears came roaring back in the fourth, as Tiffany Wesley led off with a single to center, followed by Brette Reagan reaching on an error at shortstop. Courtney Oberg stepped up and laid down a bunt in front of the pitcher for a single to load the bases, and Jordan Daniels hit a sac fly to center to bring in Wesley for Baylor's first run. KJ Freeland popped up a bunt for the Lady Bears' second out, setting the stage for Meagan Weldon. With a 1-2 count, Weldon drilled a check swing over the left field fence to bring Baylor to within one, 5-4.

Oklahoma State went back up ahead by three, adding two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, on a two RBI single with two outs for a 7-4 lead.

Baylor brought the deficit back to two in the top of the fifth as T. Wesley started with a single with two outs and stole second before Reagan walked. Oberg then delivered a double down the left field line to score Wesley, but Reagan was thrown out trying to reach third, stopping the BU threat.

For the third straight inning, the Cowgirls added two runs in an inning to take a 9-5 lead.

The Lady Bears threatened again in the sixth, as Freeland singled to the pitcher and Weldon followed with a single to short. Brittany Turner reached on a fielder's choice when the throw to third was not in time to get Freeland to load the bases with one out. The next pitch was a wild pitch, but the ball bounced off the backstop back to the catcher, who tagged Freeland for out number two. Alex Colyer, who was pinch hitting, grounded out to second for the third out, ending any chance for a rally.

OSU added two more runs for the fourth straight inning after a two run blast to right made it 11-5.

Baylor stranded six runners in the ballgame, as both teams combined for five errors in the contest.

Kirsten Shortridge (4-4) picked up the loss as the Lady Bears used all four pitchers for the first time this season.

The Lady Bears will finish the series with the Cowgirls on Sunday at 12 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla.
