Ramos Named to All-ACC Softball Second Team

May 7, 2008

College Park, Md.-- Junior second baseman, Renee Ramos, Boston College's offensive leader this season, was named to the All-ACC Softball Second Team, announced Wednesday evening at the league's annual pre-championship banquet on the campus of the University of Maryland.

Ramos, a Chino, Calif., native, earns her first All-ACC award. She leads the team in almost every offensive category, which includes hits (57), RBIs (45) and homeruns (10). She is among the top-five in the conference for on base percentage (first), RBIs (second), homeruns (third), total bases and slugging percentage (fourth).

Twelve players were named to the second-team in all and were represented by each of the eight participating institutions. Also awarded at the banquet were a 10-member All-ACC First Team, North Carolina's Danielle Spaulding (Player of the Year), Virginia Tech's Angela Tincher (Pitcher of the Year) and North Carolina head coach Donna J. Papa, earning her fourth Coach of the Year honor.

The #6-seeded Boston College Eagles will play the #3-seeded Florida State Seminoles in the tournament's first game tomorrow, May 8. The game will begin at 10 a.m. at Robert E. Taylor Stadium in College Park, Md.
