Indianapolis - The Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA) is current accepting applications for the 2008 Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) program. The deadline for application submission is Friday, April 18, 2008. Participant criteria, a listing of required documents and the application can be located at www.bcasports.org.
The Achieving Coaching Excellence program is possible through funding provided by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Diversity and Inclusion and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics and the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee.
This Mission of the BCA ACE program is to assist ethnic minority basketball coaches with career advancement by providing skills and development strategies for an already talented group to become the next generation of head basketball coaches. This program will encompass a wealth of information within four intensive days of program during June 1-4, 2008 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The four day workshops are designed "for those poised to be Head Coaches in a short time-frame", said Floyd Keith, Executive Director of BCA. "The ACE program is a positive and unique program that is specifically designed to enhance opportunities for ethic minorities in collegiate basketball," continued Keith.
Leaders in the athletics industry and highly recognized basketball coaches will serve as the faculty during the four-day workshop. To date, fifty-two (52) coaches have completed the BCA Achieving Coaching Excellence program and previous ACE participants have obtained eleven (11) Head Coaching positions. All interested candidates are invited to apply for participation. Applications are available online at www.bcasports.org or contact the BCA office for additional information.
