Bloomington, Ind. - The first day of the Indiana Relays came with fast, and I mean FAST, results for Bethune-Cookman University Track & Field on Friday as the Wildcats had several personal-best times ... as well as numerous student-athletes advance to the finals of their respected events.

The Indiana Relays are taking place inside the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Indiana in Bloomington. The event, as a whole, is about three events behind time-wise as things went a little bit slower than expected on day one. Saturday's events will begin earlier as to allow all events to take place properly.

Things got started early-on with junior transfer Alfreepha Stubbs gaining a personal-best time of 57.03 in the women's 400 meter dash. That time allowed the Nassau, Bahamas native to advance to the finals of the 400 meter dash on the women's side tomorrow.

Sophomore Tavia Burke and junior sprinter Dianne Munroe each advanced to the semifinals of their respected events. Burke will compete in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, while Munroe tied a personal-best time of 7.63 to advance to the finals of the 60-meter dash tomorrow afternoon.

Continuing to do well for the women are Christina Roundtree and Munroe as each will compete in the 200 meter dash tomorrow in the invitational portion of the event.

As a side note, assistant coach Kia Davis is also competing this weekend as the Olympic trials get closer and closer. Davis, a second-year assistant coach for the Wildcats and a graduate of St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, N.C., advanced to the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash scheduled for tomorrow.

Moving to the men's side of the track, Joel Redhead registered an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 47.58 in the men's 400 meter dash as he won the gold for the event. This is the first time this season Redhead has collected a first place honor in the 400.

He finished in second place last weekend at the Tom Jones Memorial at the University of Florida.

Junior Kyle Dillet had a personal-best time of 1:59.54 in the men's 800 meter run. The Deltona, Fla. Native finished in the top portion of his heat.

Freshman Ronnie Ashe was equally impressive as the Knightdale High School alumnus posted the second-fastest time of the day in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Thus, proving the hype surrounding him when he arrived on campus from his hometown of Raleigh, N.C.

Ashe ran 8.00-flat for the event.

"We are a little behind today on some of the events, but that didn't stop us from performing well," exclaimed B-CU head coach Garfield Ellenwood. "I am really excited about what we can do tomorrow after I KNOW what we have done today. This is the team I have been waiting for all year long."

Bethune-Cookman will finish up their Midwest swing tomorrow in the second day of the Indiana Relays back in Bloomington, Ind.
