Daytona Beach, Fla. - Severe weather in the Volusia County area haulted what was becoming a great contest between the visiting Florida Atlantic Owls and homestanding Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach. The Owls struck for a run in the top-half of the fifth frame off relief pitcher Darrin Young to take a lead before thunder started to hit the area. The Wildcats then came back with a runner on first and shortstop Jose Lozada at the plate when lightning and severe weather hit the area hard. The weather showed no signs of letting up when both coaches elected to call the game and continue later in the season when the 'Cats visit FAU in Boca Raton. For more information, please call the B-CU Office of Sports Information at (386) 481-2206. You can also visit the B-CU athletic website at www.BCCathletics.com for more up-to-date coverage of all Wildcats varsity sports.
