Virginia Beach, Va. - Bethune-Cookman University freshman guard Demetria Frank has been named this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week the league announced on Monday afternoon from the league office in Virginia Beach, Va. Frank, a 5-foot-9 freshman guard from Miami, Fla., collected her first-ever double-double last week when she posted 14 points and 13 rebounds against Morgan State on the road in Baltimore, Md. Frank followed that up with 16 points and six rebounds in a tough loss to Delaware State ... also handing out five assists. For Frank, she averaged 15 points and nine rebounds in two games for the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman University. This is also the second time this year Frank has been named women's basketball Rookie of the Week by the league. Player of the Week honors went to Coppin State's Shalamar Oakley, while North Carolina A&T's Ta'Wuana Cook registered a career-high eight steals to be named Defensive Player of the Week. The Wildcats, after falling 77-51 to Maryland Eastern Shore last night, will travel to South Carolina State for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Orangeburg, S.C. Game time is set for a 2 p.m. start inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Gymnasium on the campus of SCSU.
