Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University is set to share with over 900 teams across the nation next weekend as the Wildcats will be "Thinking Pink" in an effort to promote breast cancer awareness in women everywhere when they take on Coppin State on Feb. 16.

The "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The week set aside for this year's initiative is February 8 - 17, however many teams are participating outside of that window due to scheduling conflicts.

For this, B-CU is asking everyone planning on attending the game(s) against Coppin State--women and men doubleheader, to wear pink in recognition of such a deadly disease that has affected numerous women across this great nation--and abroad.

"The WBCA is very excited to promote an initiative that touches all levels of our membership and unifies them for such a great cause," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "It has been remarkable to watch the support of this initiative grow from 120 teams last year to over 900 teams from a variety for sports for 2008. With the help of each of our members, the women's basketball community and beyond can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer."

B-CU is looking to partner with several local organizations to help promote the event as wide-spread as it can be. Due to schedule conflicts, the Wildcats are being forced to hold the event when they play the Eagles of Coppin State at the Ocean Center ... an off-campus site for the `Cats.

"I think it's wonderful that we recognize the severity of breast cancer, and we here at Bethune-Cookman University are happy to bring awareness to this situation," stated Sandra Booker--Senior Woman Administrator for athletics at B-CU.

The game/event is set to tip-off at 2 p.m. against Coppin State, once again, on Feb. 16 at the Ocean Center.
