Raleigh, N.C. - Bethune-Cookman University freshman guard Demetria Frank has recently been named to the All-MEAC Rookie Team announced on Monday evening at the annual basketball banquet in Raleigh, N.C. Frank, a native of Miami, Fla., was named as MEAC Rookie of the Week twice during the regular season as she helped the Wildcats with a team second-best 9.8 points per game, as well as a team-high 80 assists. The slashing guard was instrumental, alongside teammate Natasha Ferguson, in several of B-CU's wins including a buzzer-beating bank shot over Norfolk State in Daytona Beach. Frank becomes the first All-Rookie team member for the Francis Simmons coached Wildcats since Keturah Newkirk back during the 2005-06 campaign where she led the nation in three-point field goals made per game. "This is a great accomplishment for Demetria, and it shows just how good our younger players can be in the coming years," stated B-CU head coach Francis Simmons. "She was great for us this year, and I hope she can continue to grow and become the player that we, as well as she, hopes she can become." Joining Frank on the All-Rookie Team were Casey Morton (Md. Eastern Shore), Raychele Payne (Norfolk State), Quanneisha Perry (Hampton) and Jalessa Sams (North Carolina A&T).
