Virginia Beach, Va. - Freshman softball player Allison Garcia has been named as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week as announced by the home office in Virginia Beach, Va. For Garcia this is her second weekly honor in as many weeks. The 5-foot-7 freshman from Chino Hills, Calif. collected Pitcher of the Week accolades last week within the league. This time, she had a great batting and pitching performance on the week. The St. Lucy's Priory alum registered an ERA of just 1.01 in a 4-0 week on the mound for the Wildcats. Garcia helped B-CU clinch a series sweep of Norfolk State, as well as collect a three-game series sweep of South Carolina State at home to move the `Cats to 6-0 in league play. She posted 19 strikeouts to just four walks allowed on the week. At the plate, Garcia recorded a batting average of .529 in five games. She slugged in two (2) homeruns and three RBI while collecting seven putouts and four assists in the field. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Garcia this year. The Pitcher of the Week honors this week went to Jennifer Luper of North Carolina A&T, while Norfolk State's Jeannette Sauceda collected Rookie of the Week honors for the MEAC.
