Falcons Finish Eleventh at MACs

YPSILANTI,Michigan - The BGSU women's track and field team finished their indoor season today, with an eleventh place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships. The Falcons accrued a total of 26.50 points. The University of Akron successfully defended their indoor title by racking up 106 points. Western Michigan (96), Miami University (88), Ball State University (86), Central Michigan (55.50), University of Buffalo (50.50), Eastern Michigan (40.50), Kent State (34), Toledo (32.50), and Ohio University rounded out the top ten positions. Northern Illinois finished in twelfth place with 12.50 points respectively.

Junior Whitney Hartman followed up yesterdays fourth place finish in the weight throw with a seventh place finish in the shot put. Hartman had a toss of 13.97 meters (45-10.00 feet), which was her best throw of the indoor season. Liz Honegger added a thirteenth place finish with a throw of 13.05 meters (42-09.75 feet). Yesterday Lauren Bryant finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 19.22 meters (63-00.75 feet) which was her best toss of the season.

Lyndi Springer had a productive day, finishing sixth place in the 800 meter run. Springer had a time of 2:15.49, just over three seconds away from finishing first in the event. She also ran a 2:13.95 in the 800 meter in the prelims, five seconds faster then her previous-best.

Jamie Roflow added four points to the Falcons total with a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meter run. Her time of 10:02.55 was her second best time in the event and was just over two seconds behind a fourth place finish. Yesterday Roflow finished sixth in the 5,000 meter run.
 

 

Next week (Friday March, 7th and Saturday March, 8th) Lauren Bryant and Whitney Hartman will head to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invitational as the two will attempt to qualify for nationals.
