Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Michael James, Penn State
Sr., Clifton, Va. / Centreville

James helped Penn State to two wins in the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., last weekend.  The senior recorded back-to-back No. 1 Singles victories in the Nittany Lions' wins over No. 21 Alabama and No. 35 Boise State.  Against the Crimson Tide, Penn State was locked in a 3-3 tie heading into James' match.  The Clifton, Va., native stepped up to the challenge and defeated Alabama's Saketh Myneni (5-7, 6-2, 7-6) to clinch the winning team point.  The next day, James ousted Boise State's Luke Shields in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.  He also paired with teammate Brendan Lynch to notch a 2-0 record in doubles action, including an 8-5 win against Myneni and Michael Jung of Alabama, and another 8-5 win over Arnau Brugues and Ricardo Soriano of Tulsa.  This is James' third career weekly accolade
