OSU's Moneke is Named Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week



Moneke's Ohio State team won the Big Ten regular season title and will be the No. 1 seed in this weekend's championship.

Moneke helped Ohio State to three more dual wins to end the 2008 season with an overall record of 29-1.  The junior was a perfect 6-0 on the week, including three wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  In singles play, Moneke picked up his first win of the week at No. 1 over Wright State's Tony Teufel in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.  Against Penn State, the Alten-Busick, Germany, native was triumphant over Adam Slagter at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1.  In his final match of the weekend, Moneke defeated Michigan's Andrew Mazlin at No. 3 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.  Moneke finished the conference slate with a perfect 10-0 record in both singles and doubles play, and helped OSU to No. 1 seed in this weekend's Big Ten Men's Tennis Championship.  This is Moneke's third career weekly laurel.
