Big 12 Announces Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (Feb. 5)

IRVING, Texas--Dusty Jonas (Nebraska) has been named the Big 12 Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while Kate Sultanova (Kansas) was chosen as Big 12 Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 29 - Feb. 4. Sultanova was honored for the second time in her career, while this marks the first time Jonas has won a weekly accolade.

Big 12 Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week
Dusty Jonas, Nebraska, Sr., La Vernia, Texas/La Vernia
Jonas won the high jump title for the second consecutive week. His jump of 7 feet, 2½ inches (2.20 meters) is an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark. He is currently tied for first in the nation with Scott Sellers (Kansas State) with the highest mark of the season (7-4½/2.25m).

Big 12 Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week
Kate Sultanova, Kansas, Sr., Krasnodar, Russia/School No. 90
Sultanova was named the Female Athlete of the Meet at the Husker Invitational by winning the pole vault title. She won the event with an NCAA-automatic qualifying mark of 13-9¼ (4.20m). Her vault is currently the nation's second-leading height this season.
