IRVING, Texas -- Jacob Priday (Missouri) and Andrew Oliver (Oklahoma State) have earned the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, for games of April 7-13 in voting by a media panel. Priday receives the third weekly award of his career, while Oliver is honored for the first time.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Priday, Missouri, OF, Sr., Sikeston, Mo./Sikeston
Priday set a Big 12 single-game record with four home runs in No. 8 Missouri's 31-12 victory over 10th-ranked Texas on Friday. He finished the three-game series against UT with a .583 batting average (7-for-12), 11 RBI and four homers. Priday also recorded a 1.667 slugging percentage and a double to lead the Tigers to two wins in the series.
In the opener, Priday went 5-for-5 while compiling nine RBI and six runs scored. His four home run performance is tied for the third-most in NCAA history. Priday also moved within one of the Mizzou career home run record with 44, and is two shy of the RBI mark with 220 after this weekend's action. On Saturday, he was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBI.
Earlier in the week, Priday was 1-for-3 including a three-run home run against Missouri State on Wednesday.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Oliver, Oklahoma State, LHP, So., Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion
Oliver pitched the first complete game of his career, leading OSU to a 1-0 win in its series opener against No. 6 Nebraska on Friday. The sophomore southpaw allowed just three hits (all singles) and tied a career high with 10 strikeouts while not allowing a walk.Oliver was perfect through five innings, retiring the first 15 Cornhuskers before giving up a leadoff single in the sixth. He faced just two batters over the minimum in the game. With the victory, Oliver improved to 3-2 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.50. He leads the Cowboys with 54 strikeouts in 54 innings of work.
