Allyse Wilcox
Feb. 13, 2008 After posting 70 saves in three games this week and allowing only one goal, junior Allyse Wilcox (Grand Blanc, Mich.) has been named the GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week. Wilcox posted 24 saves against Boston College in the opening round of the Beanpot Tournament en route to a 3-1 victory for the Terriers. Over the weekend, the netminder appeared in both games for BU at Vermont, posting 3-1 and 2-0 wins on Friday and Saturday, respectively. In Friday's game, the Catamounts' lone goal was scored while the Terriers had an open net. For her efforts, Wilcox was named the Hockey East Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Wilcox ranks high in several categories nationally, including the fourth best save percentage (.939) and eighth best goals against average (1.59). The netminder has not allowed more than one goal in each of her past five outings. The Terriers get back to work Tuesday (Feb. 12) against No. 1 Harvard in the Beanpot championship at Walter Brown Arena at 8:00 p.m. |
