BOSTON - Freshman guard/forward John Holland (Bronx, N.Y.) received a spot on the CollegeHoops.net Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-Freshman team at the close of the 2007-2008 season.

Holland was named the America East's Rookie of the Week a league-high six times, including five weeks in a row to close out the season. He was named the America East's Rookie of the Year and earned spots on the All-Rookie team, All-Defensive team, and the All-Conference Third Team.

The Bronx native ranked second on the team in points per game, and rebounds per game averaging 11.4 ppg and 5.0 rpg. On defense Holland came up with 149 total boards on the season and a team-high 44 steals. On Feb. 28 against Hartford, Holland posted a career-high, and a 2008 America East single-game record 38 points and 11 rebounds.

He is joined on the honorable mention list by Alvin Abreu (UNH), Nate Blank (Gardner Webb), Kenneth Faried (Moorhead State), Rahmon Fletcher (UWGB), Jay Garvin (Marist), Rob Jones (San Diego), Mark Payne (UC Davis), Deonte Roberts (Milwaukee), Gerald Robinson Jr. (Tennessee State), Brian Rudolph (Loyola), and Cameron Wells (The Citadel).
