Mullins' Isis Wins Oxford-Cambridge Reserve Race
March 31, 2008
BOSTON - Rowing for Oxford's Isis for the second straight year, Boston University men's crew alumnus Anthony Mullin and the rest of his eight claimed the win over Cambridge's Goldie in the reserve race of the 154th annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race on Saturday, March 29. The win marked the first time in four years Isis has defeated Goldie. Mullin sat three-seat for the second straight year as Oxford crossed the line in 20 minutes, 43 seconds to Cambridge's 20 minutes, 54 seconds. Cambridge had the lead at the one-mile marker, Oxford made a push and by Hammersmith Bridge, Isis had taken a very narrow lead. Goldie stayed right there, however, not letting Isis get more than a 0.05 second lead at the Chiswick Steps, but Cambridge couldn't pick it up enough to move ahead. Split Times (Isis/Goldie): One Mile 4.10/4.09 Hammersmith Bridge 7.32/7.33 Chiswick Steps 12.12/12.17 Barnes Bridge 17.12/17.20
