Ewing, Gilroy, MacArthur, Wilson Earn All-New England Honors

Junior Matt Gilroy (North Bellmore, N.Y.) has been named the recipent of the Bob Monahan Award, honoring New England's top defenseman, and was also selected to the region's Division I All-Star team along with senior forwards Bryan Ewing (Plymouth, Mass.) and Pete MacArthur (Clifton Park, N.Y.), as announced by the New England Hockey Writers on Tuesday. Freshman forward Colin Wilson (Winnipeg, Man.) was named the New England Rookie of the Year. This is Gilroy's second consecutive inclusion to the All-Star team and it is the first for Ewing and MacArthur. All three were all named Hockey East First-Team All-Stars last month, while Wilson claimed the league's Rookie of the Year award. Gilroy tallied 21 points this season on six goals and 15 assists and tied MacArthur for the team lead with a plus-17 rating. He is the second Terrier in as many years to recieve the Bob Monahan Award, as Sean Sullivan earned the accolade last spring. MacArthur (21-24--45) and Ewing (17-26--43) were BU's top scorers this season, as MacArthur led the team in scoring for the third straight year - a feat last achieved by Chris Drury. The duo finished 1-2 in Hockey East in scoring during league play, as Ewing recorded 35 points (13g, 22a) and MacArthur tallied 34 (14g, 20a). Wilson finished third on the squad in scoring with 35 points on 12 goals and 23 assists. The New England Hockey Writers banquet will be held Wednesday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at the Prince Restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus, Mass.
