Terrier Women Take Fourth at Tufts Snowflake Invitational; Men Finish Fifth
March 30, 2008 Medford, Mass. - Behind 16 top 10 finishes, the Boston University women's outdoor track and field team finished fourth out of 13 teams at the Tufts Snowflake Invitational Saturday, while the men's team earned fifth place out of 14 teams. Sophomores Whitney Ford and Casey Jordan, freshman Alexandra Jackson and juniors Rebecca Marshburn and Kodjo Wilder each clinched first place in their respective events. Dartmouth won the women's competition with 196.50 points, followed by Tufts (139.50), Bates (138) and BU 106). Ford's 12.59 time in the 100m won her first, followed by junior Edwina Clark (13.49, 4) and senior Alyssa Fanucci (13.54, 6). Jackson led the field in the 200m with a 26.78 mark and senior Megan LaBella (30.04) came in 16th, while freshmen Laura Martin (1:03.12) and Amanda Howard (1:04.52) earned third and seventh, respectively, in the 400m. Junior Rebecca Marshburn won the 100m hurdles with a 15.45 time, with LaBella following at 18.53 to take 14th. Sophomore Casey Jordan (1:05.09) finished first in the 400m hurdles and junior Rebecca Marshburn (1:10.36) took fourth, while BU's 4x100m teams placed first and third with times of 50.24 and 51.29.
Clark (5.20m) and Fanucci (4.84m) finished second and fifth, respectively, in the long jump, while sophomore Fiona Romeri (J2.90m) took third in the pole vault. Freshman Jen Fleser earned sixth place in the hammer throw with a 38.52m distance and LaBella took 12th in the javelin with a 22.18m throw. Freshman Karly Neveu placed third in the high jump with a 1.50m height. Dartmouth also won the men's competition, earning 223 points, followed by Tufts (154), Bates (102), Southern Maine (74) and Boston University (54). Wilder's 6.50m distance won the long jump, while sophomores Logan Moore (4.10m) and Jordan Cumper (J3.50m) placed second and eighth, respectively, in the pole vault. Junior Jun Dambara tied for sixth in the high jump with a J1.76m height and sophomore Jan Bicanic (45.18m, 5), freshman Dan Withrow (40.81m, 9) and senior Dan Martin (34.83m, 14) all placed in the hammer throw. Junior David Barth placed 17th in the 100m with a 12.27 time, followed closely by sophomore Max Esposito with a 12.28 mark in 18th. Senior Keith Buchanan (23.80, 9) placed in the 200m, while junior Adam Churey (52.59, 4) and sophomore Jason English (53.86, 10) finished the 400m. Junior Joseph Pike (2:09.52) took 16th in the 800m, while freshman James Weider (4:19.13) took eighth in the 1500m and junior Tom McLean (32:53.49) finished fifth in the 10000m. Junior Jason Nardella (16:00, 6), senior Greg Daggett, Jr. (18.67, 18) and freshman Rich Haigh (18.75, 19) placed in the 110m hurdles and sophomore Mark Mazzochette (56.62, 3) finished in the 400m hurdles, while BU's 4x100m relay team took third with a 45:45 time. |
