Boston University Outdoor Track and Field Competes at Spec Towns Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. - The Boston University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Spec Towns Invitational this weekend at the Spec Towns Track, with senior David Proctor and graduate student Kat Warden taking first in the 800m and 1500m, respectively. Proctor crossed with a 1:51.75 time, just a few seconds ahead of freshman Ken Haltom (1:55.73, 5), and seniors Chadd Steinhauser (1:56.07, 6) and Jake Laroe (2:01.47, 10). Laroe (3:53.46, 2), senior Pat Hoye (3:54.06, 3) and sophomore David Polgar (4:00.68, l0) all finished the 1500m, while junior Jason Nardella (15.49) took 10th in the 110m hurdles and sophomore Mark Mazzochette (55.81) took 12th placed in the 400m hurdles. Wilder came out eighth in the long jump with a 6.76m distance and sophomore Chase Carnahan took eighth in the javelin with a 48.92m throw. Freshman Daniel Withrow (15.49m), senior Dan Martin (14.93m) and sophomore Jan Bicanic (14.80m) placed 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively, while Withrow (48.61m, 9), Bicanic (47.66m, 11), Martin (44.16m, 14) and sophomore Logan Moore (41.24m, 15) all competed in the discus throw.
Boston University's teams took third in the 4x100 relay with a 46.71 time, setting a new school record, and fourth in the 4x400 relay with a 3:55.20 mark. Warden's 4:36.83 time in the 1500m earned her first, followed by senior Anne Wighton, who crossed fourth with a 4:42.22 time. Sophomore Whitney Ford placed ninth in the 100m with a 12.13 mark, followed by senior Tahari James (12.28, 11), freshman Alex Jackson (12.46, 13) and seniors Erin Catarius (12.50, 16) and Alyssa Fanucci (13.00, 22). Ford (25.01) also took 11th in the 200m, while freshman Laura Martin (25.55) placed 14th. Freshman Amanda Howard finished 14th in the 400m with a 1:02.22 time, with junior Katie Weider (2:14.63, 4) and Warden (2:15.49, 7) completing the 600m. Junior Rebecca Marshburn (1:04.14, 6) competed with sophomore Casey Jordan (1:02.72, 2) in the 400m hurdles, also taking ninth in the 100m hurdles with a 15.29 time. Freshman Karly Neveu placed fourth in the high jump with a 1.60m height, while James (5.97m, 5), Ford (5.90m, 7), juniors Edwina Clark (5.77m, 9) and Alexis Beaudet (5.53m, 13), Jackson (5.14m, 19) and Fanucci (5.12m, 20) all competed in the long jump. |
