Kinneary Semifinalist for 2008 AE Women's Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year Honor

BOSTON - Boston University junior point guard Christine Kinneary is one of nine semifinalists chosen for the 2008 America East Women's Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year Award. Preliminary voting begins on Tuesday, March 4 and will finish on Friday, March 7 at noon.

On Friday afternoon, no less than three finalists will be chosen based on the fans' votes and the final ballot will be available through Tuesday, March 11 at noon.

Boston University's Katie Meinhardt was the inaugural women's basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year in 2007. The 2008 award winner will be announced at AmericaEast.com on Wednesday, March 12 to kick off the 2008 America East Women's Basketball Championship that begins on March 13 in West Hartford, Conn.

Kinneary has been a mainstay in the lineup for the Terriers all season, starting all 27 games, ranking fourth in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (2.54) and sixth in assists per game (7.0). In five of the last six games, she has posted double-figure scoring, including a career-high 23 points vs. Binghamton on Feb. 13, and has averaged 14.8 point per game in those contests. In addition, she has dished out 188 assists in 2007-08, which is third in the BU record books.

BU is 16-11 overall and 9-5 in America East with two games remaining in the regular season. The Terriers will travel to UMBC on Wednesday, March 5 for a 7:00 p.m. contest before returning to Case Gym for the regular-season finale on Saturday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. vs. Albany.
