BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team hosts cross-town rival Boston College in the opening round of the Women's Beanpot Tournament on Tuesday (Feb. 5) at 8:00 p.m., hosted at Walter Brown Arena. The Terriers will look to avenge a 6-1 loss to the Eagles in last year's Beanpot championship.

Video of the entire tournament will be broadcast by B2 Networks - more information can be found at http://www.b2livetv.com/ . WTBU will also broadcast live audio of each game at www.wtburadio.org .

This year marks the 30th anniversary of what has become one of the best know showcases of women's ice hockey in America. This will be the first time since 1982 that Boston University (9-12-3, 6-6-1 HE) has hosted the tournament since 1982, one year after they last won the Beanpot championship. Boston College (10-9-6, 6-6-2 HE) will be looking to win the title for the third straight year, after going without a championship in the first 27 years of play.

Earlier this season, the Terriers won a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over the Eagles, who were ranked eighth at the time, on a score by sophomore Jonnie Bloemers in the extra frame.

All-time, BU is 6-16 against BC in the Beanpot, losing each of the last 12 meetings. However, when the Terriers won the championship in 1981 it was in a 4-0 victory over the Eagles.

Preceding the game, Northeastern will face Harvard in the tournament opener at 5:00 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena. Between games, there will be a ceremony inducting the inaugural class into the Women's Beanpot Hall of Fame, including former players from each of the schools.
