Anderson Named Hockey East TPS Hockey Player of the Week
Feb. 25, 2008
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Melissa Anderson was named this week's Hockey East TPS Hockey Player of the Week, as was announced by the league office Monday. Anderson notched four points in Saturday's 4-1 win over Boston College, including the second hat trick in program history. Anderson scored in each period for the Terriers, including two power play goals. The Langley, B.C. native also assisted on junior Erin Seman's goal in the third period, the final score of the evening. The win propelled the Terriers back into fourth place, after falling into fifth for a day. It was also BU's first victory at Conte Forum, going 0-4-0 before Saturday's contest. Anderson leads the team with 14 goals and 26 points, also racking up 12 assists. She has scored seven power-play goals this season and two game-winners. Her three scores Saturday also pushed her past her total last year, which was 12 goals. This is the second time this month Anderson has been named the Player of the Week, after earning the honors on Feb. 4, after earning four points in two games - including a two-goal, one-assist performance against Providence. The Terriers face conference rival Northeastern this weekend in a home-and-home series to close out the regular season. BU's seniors, Julie Poulin and Stephanie Armstrong, will be recognized for their contributions at Saturday's home game at 3:00 p.m.
