Terriers Edge New Hampshire, 2-1, in America East Title Game

DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Jennifer Herman scored a timely first goal of the season and sophomore Emily Pallotta tallied the eventual game-winner in the Terriers' 2-1 win over New Hampshire in the America East Women's Soccer Championship title game on Saturday, Nov. 10 in Durham, N.H. Boston University (11-6-3) won its sixth conference championship and earns the America East's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Herman (Oceanside, N.Y.) scored off a Lauren Basham (Lake Oswego, Ore.) feed from the left side of the box for her second collegiate goal at 22:58. Pallotta (Andover, Mass.) upped the Terriers' lead at 41:45 when freshman Lina Cords (Leonardtown, Md.) dished it off to sophomore Casey Brown (Natick, Mass.), who headed it to Pallotta. Pallotta finished it off for her fourth goal of the season.

In the first half, BU out-shot UNH, 6-4, and held a commanding advantage in corner kicks, 5-0.

In the second half, UNH began to rally, out-shooting the Terriers, 9-1, through the first 20 minutes of the stanza. The Wildcats' efforts paid off at 68:36 when Shauna Kaplan received a pass from Michelle Sheehan in the middle of the box and nailed it into the lower left side of the goal.

Senior netminder Christina Reuter (Madison, Wis.) made five saves in net and earned her seventh win of the season.

The Wildcats out-shot BU, 21-7, however, BU held the 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Brown was named the Championship's Most Outstanding Player, and she was joined on the All-Championship team by Pallotta, Basham and junior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge.
