Women's Soccer Heads to Albany for Mid-Week Contest

BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team will travel to Albany on Thursday to face the Great Danes at 3:00 p.m. at Varsity Field. The Terriers enter the game sporting a 4-5-1 overall record and a 1-0-0 America East mark, while Albany is 3-4-3 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference. BU leads the all-time series, 6-0-0, and has outscored the Great Danes, 24-1. BU is coming off its 1-0 conference-opening win against Vermont last Sunday. Freshman Tiya Gallegos (Lakewood, Calif.) netted her first collegiate goal to win the game for the Terriers and earn America East Rookie of the Week. This season BU has been boosted by its underclassmen as three sophomores and a freshman have recorded every goal to date. Sophomore Farrell McClernon (West Chester, Pa.) has notched two, while classmates Emily Pallotta (Andover, Mass.) and Mara Osher (Rockville, Md.), as well as Gallegos, have each recorded one goal this season. Red-shirt freshman Janie Reilly (Coral Springs, Fla.) and senior Christina Reuter (Madison, Wis.) have split netminding duties all season. Reilly currently owns a 0.48 GAA and a .906 save percentage, while Reuter has registered a 0.97 GAA and .846 save percentage. Reilly is ranked 19th nationally in GAA and 13th in save percentage. Teresa Boring has been an offensive catalyst for Albany with seven goals and one assist for 15 points through 10 games. She currently leads the conference in that category. Maria Liguori has started every game for the Great Danes and has earned a 1.83 GAA and .733 save percentage.
Following tonight's game BU will take a break from conference action to host Dartmouth on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. |
