PROVIDENCE, RI - Five members of the Brown men's tennis team have earned All-Ivy recognition for their performances this season. Headlining the group is Senior Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India), who was named Second Team All-Ivy in singles and First Team All-Ivy in doubles with junior Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY). This marks the third straight All-Ivy selection for Kohli, after he earned Second Team All-Ivy in doubles in 2006 and First Team All-Ivy in doubles last year. His Second Team Singles selection this season marks his first-ever All-Ivy singles honor. For Ratnam, it marks his second selection to the All-Ivy teams, after he earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in singles as a freshman. In addition to Kohli and Ratnam, juniors Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA), Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL), and Noah Gardner (Cambridge, MA) also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in singles (Lee) and Doubles (Garland/Gardner). It is Lee's second career All-Ivy selection, after he earned First Team All-Ivy in doubles action as a freshman. This marks the first-ever appearance on the All-Ivy team for both Garland and Gardner. As a doubles team, Kohli and Ratnam compiled a 6-6 record, all played at the #1 position. They were 4-2 in Ivy action, winning matches against Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Yale. Kohli played exclusively at #1 singles during the Ivy season and was 3-4 against teams from the Ancient Eight, earning big wins against Cornell, Columbia, and Yale. Lee was also named Second Team All-Ivy in singles, after posting a 5-2 record against Ivy competition, including a 3-1 record at #2 singles and a 2-1 mark at #3 singles. Overall, Lee was 12-12 on the season. The doubles team of Garland and Gardner also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors, after earning a 4-3 record during the Ivy season, including a 4-2 mark at #2 doubles, earning wins over Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Yale. For the season, the duo posted a 16-10 record in doubles action.
