CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. & FAIRFAX, Va. - The Bucknell women's rowing team competed for the second and third times within a 24-hour span on Saturday and had an impressive day, winning five of six races against North Carolina and sweeping five afternoon events against Delaware and George Mason. The Bison opened the day against the Tar Heels on the Rivanna Reservoir in Charlottesville, Va., and concluded their busy stretch opposite Delaware and George Mason in the afternoon at the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax, Va.

The Bucknell varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four each picked up a pair of first-place victories. The second varsity four placed second twice, each time behind its teammates in the varsity four.

Against North Carolina the Bison posted each of their wins by at least five seconds, with the second varsity eight's 12-second victory the largest margin.

In its second event of the day, against Delaware and George Mason, each of Bucknell's five victories were by at least 12 seconds. The novice four won by 30 seconds over the Blue Hens, while the varsity eight posted an 18-second margin over the second-place Patriots.

"This was a great first weekend of racing," commented Bison head coach Stephen Kish. "We are real proud of the women's efforts of staying focused throughout the demanding weekend. It was a valuable experience to face the talented teams we competed against."
