March 22, 2008

Final Stats

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Four goals each from Kristine Corkum and Nikki Bolduc propelled Holy Cross to a 16-6 Patriot League victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. Bonnie Buechel (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) scored a season-high three goals for the Bison, who fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The two-time defending Patriot League champs outshot the Bison 37-17 and erased an early 2-1 deficit with an 8-1 run in the first half. Holy Cross (2-6, 1-2) led 10-4 at the half, then outscored Bucknell 6-0 in the second half until the Bison scored twice in the final 47 seconds of the game.

Buechel scored two goals in a span of 1:54 to give Bucknell the 2-1 lead, but Katie Gardner scored less than a minute later to tie the game at 2-2. Bolduc's goal and 19:54 gave the Crusaders the lead for good.

Alison Heffernan (Malvern, Pa./Agnes Irwin) scored on an 8-meter shot to bring the Bison within 6-3, but the Crusaders scored four of the last five in the half to take control.

Sarah Collins (Goldens Bridge, N.Y./John Jay) and Laura Van Schaack (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) also scored goals for Bucknell. Goalie Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) made eight saves.

Next up for Bucknell is a non-conference road game at La Salle on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
