Bucknell's Carol Donohue Named Patriot League Women's Lax Player of Week

April 21, 2008

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Record-setting Bucknell sophomore Carol Donohue (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) was named the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, honoring the attacker for her stunning 13-point game against Wagner last week.

In Bucknell's 19-13 non-league victory on Staten Island, Donohue racked up five goals and eight assists, and she had a hand in the team's first 10 goals of the day. The 13 points and eight assists were both school records, and her assist total tied the Patriot League mark.

Donohue's 13 points are tied for ninth-most in a game in NCAA history, and the eight assists are second-most, just one shy of the national record. Both marks are the highest in the nation this season.

She entered the Wagner game needing two assists and nine points to equal the Bucknell single-season records, and she obliterated both marks against Wagner. After registering one goal and one assist in Saturday's double-overtime loss to Lehigh, Donohue now has 34 goals and 34 assists for 68 points on the season.

Sue Gray held the previous program record with 62 points, established 24 years ago in 1984. Meredith Wright's 27 assists in 2003 was the previous mark in that category. Donohue is now tied for second all-time on the Patriot League single-season assists chart.

Donohue was also named Patriot League Player of the Week on March 31, when she had 18 points in a 3-0 week, including an eight-point game in Bucknell's upset of Ohio State.

Bucknell is 6-7 on the season, and the Bison will finish up the 2008 campaign at Columbia on Wednesday night.
