Bucknell's Alison Ford Earns Second Honor of Week

March 27, 2008

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman Alison Ford (Suison, Calif./Fairfield) picked up her second individual honor in three days when she was named the ECAC Division I Softball Player of the Week. The honor came because of her performance during a doubleheader sweep of Coppin State last Saturday. The reigning Patriot League Player of the week hit .800 and drove in a team-high six runs against the Eagles.

Ford opened the doubleheader against the Eagles with the best game of her young career. She posted three hits in four at bats, drove in four runs and scored two. She had totaled just six hits in her first 14 career games.

In the nightcap, Ford was 1-for-1 with two runs batted in and one more run scored. Thanks to the 4-for-5 performance in the doubleheader Ford saw her average go from .162 to .238.

Bucknell has played four games since last Saturday's doubleheader and Ford has appeared in two of those, going 0-for-2. She is hitting a respectable .227 with seven runs scored and eight runs batted in this year. Her RBI total ranks third on the team, while she is tied for fifth in runs scored.

Bucknell (6-18), which went 1-3 in non-league play against Penn State and UMBC this week, will open Patriot League play this weekend with a four-game series at Lafayette.
