Bucknell Softball and Baseball Patriot League Tournament Games to be Broadcast on SportsJuice.com

May 6, 2008

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Both the Patriot League softball and baseball tournaments begin later this week and Bucknell fans who can't make it to the games will be able to follow the progress of the Bison squads as they advance through the brackets as live audio broadcasts from both tournaments will be available through BucknellBison.com and SportsJuice.com.

The three-day, double-elimination Patriot League Softball Tournament kicks off Thursday, May 8, with third-seeded Bucknell (22-27, 13-7 PL) taking on second-seeded Lafayette (24-22, 13-7 PL) at 4 p.m. at Lehigh's Kaufman Field. That game, as well as any others the Bison play in their first postseason appearance since 2005, will be broadcast live.

The first round of the two-weekend Patriot League Baseball Tournament begins this weekend with fourth-seeded Bucknell (22-21-2, 10-10 PL) playing a best-of-three series at top-seeded Army (23-22, 13-7 PL). The two teams will square off twice on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. with a third game slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. if it is necessary. Live audio of Saturday's contests will be available through SportsJuice.com if the Bucknell softball team's run through its tournament is complete. If Sunday's single game is played, it will air regardless of softball's status.

If the Bison baseball squad advances to next week's Patriot League Championship Series against either Navy or Holy Cross, future broadcast dates will be announced.

Doug Birdsong, Bucknell's coordinator of radio, television, marketing and promotions, as well as the lead play-by-play voice of the Bison Sports Network, will serve as the play-by-play voice for all broadcasts, which will begin approximately 15 minutes prior to first pitch. He will be joined by select guest analysts throughout the tournaments.
