Bucknell Women's Track and Field Finishes Day One at Bison Open and Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field team closed out the first day of competition at the Bison Open and Multi on Friday evening. Sophomore Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) led the Bison, taking first in the pentathlon and compiling a personal record of 3,435 in the event.

Mantush clocked a time of 8.71 in the 55-meter hurdles (fourth, 860), posted a height of 5-6 in the high jump (first, 830), distances of 31-1/2 in the shot put (second, 494) and 16-11 ½ in the long jump (second, 606) and ended the evening with a time of 2:33.91 in the 800-meter run (third, 645).

Also competing in the pentathlon was junior Rebecca Eppleman (Chester Springs, Pa./Great Valley), who took sixth place. Eppleman ran a time of 9.83 in the 55-meter hurdles (ninth, 618), went 5- ¼ in the high jump (fourth, 655), 29-1 in the shot put (fourth, 455), 15-2 ¾ in the long jump (seventh, 464) and 2:49.55 in the 800-meter run (ninth, 468).

Bucknell's distance medley relay team comprised of freshmen Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional), Brittany Beland (Bedford, Pa./Bedford Area), Leighann Diehl (Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees), Alaina Chodoff (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) took fifth, clocking a time of 12:42.79.

In the final for the 60-meter hurdles, senior Ashley Curry (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) led the Bison, taking 11th with her season-best time of 9.78. She was followed by senior Denise Manero (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) in 12th (9.81). Curry went on to lead the Bison in the pole vault, taking fifth with a height of 10-4 to tie her season-best mark in the event.

Sophomore Stephanie Evans (York, Pa./Central York) was the top finisher for Bucknell in the 200-meter dash, placing sixth with a time of 26.91. Freshman Eileen Foley (Herndon, Va./Chantilly) was the lone Bison in the 5,000-meter run. She finished ninth with a time of 18:46.13.

Day Two of the Bison Open and Multi will take place Saturday with field events starting at 10 a.m. and running events beginning at 11 a.m.
