Prickett's Six Goals Lead Bucknell Women's Water Polo to 14-5 Win Over Siena in First Game at Princeton Invitational

Feb. 16, 2008

PRINCETON, N.J. - Haley Prickett scored a career-high six goals and dished out two assists to lead the Bucknell women's water polo team to a 14-5 win over Siena Saturday afternoon in its first game at the Princeton Invitational. The goal total was the most by a Bison player since 2006 and was one shy of the program record of seven.

Prickett's eight points were just two shy of the program record of 10, held by both Aubrey Rowe and Julie McLaughlin.

Valentina Rozas and Kandis Canonica each scored two goals to round out the list of multiple-goal scores for Bucknell, which improved to 6-0 for the first time in program history. Canonica added three assists for a total of five points. The Bison had a total of 12 assists on their 14 goals.

After a slow start in which neither team scored in the first quarter, Bucknell outscored the Saints 3-1 in the second frame, and led 8-3 after three quarters. The Bison then totaled six goals in the fourth quarter.

Alison Carter and Rachel McGillis split time in goal for Bucknell, with Carter starting for the fifth time this season. Carter made five saves while allowing just one goal. McGillis made seven stops and yielded four goals.

The Bison will continue play Saturday afternoon against their first ranked opponent of the season. They will take on No. 6 San Diego State at 3:30 p.m.
