Bucknell Women's Water Polo Extends Winning Streak to Three with 8-6 Win Against Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Meagan Gins (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley) scored a team-high three goals and Bucknell outscored Pomona-Pitzer by five goals in the second and third quarters as the Bison defeated the Sagehens 8-6 in women's water polo action Sunday at the Claremont Convergence. It was the third consecutive victory for Bucknell, which improved to 17-4.

The Bison dominated the middle two quarters, outscoring Pomona-Pitzer, the top-ranked Division III team in the nation, 6-1 in those 16 minutes.

Alison Carter (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) was strong in goal for Bucknell, recording a career-high 12 saves. She had totaled 11 four times.

Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) moved to within one goal of her freshman-year total of 49 with a pair of scores. Shana Palencia (Glendale, Calif./Hoover) paced the team with four points on one goal and three assists, while both Jennifer Swoyer (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Kandis Canonica (Burlingame, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) contributed one goal.

The Bison are 3-0 at the Claremont Convergence, and 4-2 on their Spring Break trip to California. They wrap up their week of play Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern against Redlands, the No. 5 team in Division III.
