Gates, Weston Notch Top-10 Times In Final Day Of League Tournament

Akron, Ohio - Sarah Lynne Gates and Leigh Weston swam to some of the fastest times in Butler history, as the Bulldogs posted nine season-best marks on the final day of the Horizon League Championships in Akron, Ohio, on Saturday (Feb. 23).

Gates recorded a 2:12.77 in the 200 backstroke, the fourth-fastest time in school history. Weston, meanwhile, notched a 2:28.92 in the 200 breaststroke for a ninth-place finish in the event and the third-fastest time in Butler history.

Kendall Wormley added a season-best 2:27.06 in the 200 backstroke, while Katie Krueger (56.61), Stephanie Moles (57.63) and Maria Keyler (1:02.16) posted season-best times in the 100 freestyle.

Momo Wilson cut almost five seconds off her season-best time in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:30.79, while Brianne Owens knocked nearly six seconds off her personal best mark in the 200 fly with a time of 2:35.92.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Elizabeth Shafer, Gates, Moles, Krueger completed the trip in almost nine fewer seconds than their previous season-best mark with a 3:44.64.
 

 

Butler finished the Horizon League Championships with 143 points for eighth place.
