Butler Edges Cleveland State, 4-3, For Fifth League Win

Indianapolis, Ind. - Cleveland State gave Butler a strong test in its final home match of the season, but the Bulldogs continued its run of success against Horizon League foes, topping the Vikings 4-3 for its fifth league win of the season on Sunday (April 6) at Park Tudor High School.

Butler earned the first point of the match in doubles play, claiming wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Eric Breitenbach and Chris Herron scored an 8-5 win at the top spot, while Ben Raynauld and Bryce Warren helped secure the point with an 8-4 decision at No. 2.

CSU evened the match in singles play with a win at No. 6, but wins by Raynauld, Warren and Brandon Bayliss sealed the win for the Bulldogs. Raynauld scored a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 2, Warren hung on for a 6-4, 7-5 triumph at No. 4 and Bayliss added a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5.

The Bulldogs close out the regular season in Chicago when they take on UIC on April 18 beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.
