Raynauld Scores League Weekly Award

Feb. 27, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. - After posting a perfect mark in singles play and adding a pair of wins at doubles, Butler sophomore Ben Raynauld was named the Horizon League's Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Wednesday (Feb. 27).

Raynauld turned in a dominant week for the Bulldogs in three matches, going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 at doubles. He scored a swift 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles against Xavier before rallying for a gutsy 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 1 against Duquesne. Less than an hour after his three-set victory versus the Dukes, he returned to notch a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Bradley.

In doubles play, Raynauld teamed up with Bryce Warren for an 8-6 win at No. 2 versus Xavier and added a convincing 8-1 decision against Bradley.

Raynauld is the third Bulldog in as many weeks to receive the league's weekly award. Senior men's player Eric Breitenbach (Feb. 13) and freshman women's player Natali Jaimes (Feb. 20) have also been honored.

The Butler men's tennis team continues its eight-match homestand on Friday (Feb. 29) when it hosts league foe Valparaiso beginning at 3:00 p.m.
