Butler Falls Twice At Georgia Classic
March 1, 2008
Junior Alex Boros scored two runs and drove in a third, but it wasn't enough as Butler dropped a 4-3 decision to Longwood in the Georgia Softball Classic on Saturday, March 1. The Bulldogs (1-3) dropped a second game on Saturday to host and 17th-ranked Georgia, 7-1. Boros scored Butler's first run against Longwood in the second inning. After reaching base on a throwin error, the Butler second baseman came around on a double by freshman Kelli Hahn. Longwood (6-5) tallied single runs in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings to take a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs rallied in the bottom of the sixth on a single by senior Jenny Jacobs, a run-scoring double by Boros and a run-scoring single by freshman Haley Oskins. But Longwood pitcher Rachel Mills retired back-to-back Bulldogs to end the threat. Georgia (15-4) took command with a pair of runs in the second inning of the second game and then secured the win with four more runs in the fifth inning and a single run in the sixth. Butler scored its lone run in the second inning when Boros singled and came around to score on a double by Hahn. Boros finished the day with two hits and three runs scored. Hahn added three doubles and two RBI's. The Bulldogs will wrap-up play at the Georgia Classic on Sunday, March 2.
