Softball Falls At Cleveland State, 6-1

April 6, 2008

Box Score

Cleveland, Ohio - A three-run second inning would be all Cleveland State would need in claiming the rubber match of a three-game set on Sunday (April 6), as a Bridget Paine home run would be the only offense for the Bulldogs in a 6-1 defeat at Viking Field.

The Vikings loaded the bases with one out in the second inning for Jessica Burt, who lined an RBI single into center that the centerfielder misplayed, allowing two more unearned runs to cross the plate.

A two-out, two-run home run by Katelyn Ciminelli in the third put the Vikings up by five before adding another run in the fifth.

Paine put the Bulldogs on the board in the sixth, lining a shot over the fence in dead center field, but it would be the only run allowed by CSU pitcher Amanda Macenko on the day.

Butler returns to action on Monday (April 7) when it takes on cross-town foe IUPUI in double-header action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
