Bulldogs Sweep To Fifth League Win With 7-0 Triumph At Valpo

April 4, 2008

Results

Valparaiso, Ind. - Butler proved to be a most unwelcome guest to new Horizon League member Valparaiso on Friday (April 4) afternoon, as the Bulldogs rolled to their fifth league victory of the spring with a 7-0 victory over the Crusaders at Matchpoint Tennis Club.

After sweeping to wins in all three doubles matches, Butler cruised to six straight-set decisions in singles play.

Sophomores Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins got things started for the Bulldogs with a swift 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before seniors Michelle Hawes and Tiffany McLoughlin added an 8-1 decision at No. 3. The freshman duo of Natali Jaimes and Gabriella Bobrowski finished off the round with an 8-3 win at No. 1.

The trend continued in singles play, as McLoughlin and Hawes dropped only one game in rolling to wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Jaimes (No. 2), Bobrowski (No. 3) and Jenkins (No. 4) fell short in only three games each in their two-set victories, while Casperson claimed a 6-0, 6-4 decision at the top spot.

Butler returns home on Sunday (April 6) when it hosts Cleveland State beginning at 12:00 noon at Park Tudor High School. The match will also serve as Senior Day, with Hawes and McLoughlin being recognized prior to the bout.
