Detroit, Mich. - The doubles point again proved to be vital to the Bulldogs success against Detroit on Friday (April 11), as Butler held off a tough showing from the host Titans in claiming a 4-3 win at the Franklin Athletic Club.

The victory gives Butler its ninth win in a row and improves their record to 11-7 on the year and a perfect 7-0 in Horizon League play.

The Bulldogs secured the first point of the match in doubles play against the Titans, winning at both the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins scored the first victory with an 8-4 showing at No. 2 before Michelle Hawes and Tiffany McLoughlin picked up the clincher at No. 3 with an 8-5 win.

Jenkins scored the second point for the Bulldogs and the first decision in singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 4. After Detroit earned a point back with a win at No. 2, Casperson and Hawes notched victories at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively to lock up the match.

Detroit would rally for wins at No. 3 and No. 5, but the spirited effort would be too little too late.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 10-0 on the season when winning the doubles point.

Butler returns to action on Wednesday (April 16) when they host cross-town foe IUPUI beginning at 3:00 p.m.
