IRVING, Texas - Memphis sweeps this week's Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week awards. Sophomore Steffen Nerdal and senior Susan King both set NCAA marks in their respective events at the Broadway Prescription Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo., last weekend.

Nerdal currently owns C-USA Top Performance in the men's weight throw with a mark of 19.56 meters (64-2.25), while King leads the league in the women's shot put with the nation's third-best mark of 17.13 meters (56-2.5).

Memphis is the third program to sweep the weekly honors this season. Houston (Jan.15) and UTEP (Feb. 19) did so earlier this year.

Conference USA and the University of Houston is set to host the 2008 C-USA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 29 and Saturday, March 1 in Houston. The two-day event will be hosted inside the Yeoman Fieldhouse for the seventh-straight year.

MALE
STEFFEN NERDAL, MEMPHIS
Sophomore, Bergen, Norway / Weight Throw
Nerdal threw an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 19.56 meters in the weight throw, at the Broadway Prescription Invitational last weekend. The mark gave Nerdal a first place finish in the event, a personal-best distance and a new school record. This is Nerdal first C-USA Athlete of the Week honor.

FEMALE
SUSAN KING, MEMPHIS
Senior, League City, Texas / Shot Put & Weight Throw
King collected two second place finishes at the Broadway Prescription Invitational last weekend. The senior standout recorded an NCAA automatic performance of 16.99 meters in the shot put, marking the second-best mark of her career. King also recorded a mark of 17.60 meters in the weight throw. This is King's first C-USA Athlete of the Week honor.
