Track and Field Prepares for Last Meet Before Conference

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The U of M men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Oxford, Miss tomorrow to participate in the Ole' Miss Invite. The meet will start approximately at 11:30 a.m. with the men's hammer and women's javelin kicking off the meet. The first running event will be the women's 5000 meters at 2:00 p.m. This weekend will be the last time to see the Memphis men's and women's track and field teams perform before the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. Many of the Tiger seniors will not be in attendance as tomorrow is also graduation day for the U of M. At last years Ole' Miss Invite distance runner Tina Sherratt won the women's 800 meter run in a time of 2:11.73. Chen Edri and Ashton Baldwin both recorded second place finishes in the high jump and pole vault, respectively. For the men, Amaechi Oselukwue took third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.71. Steffen Nerdal won the men's discus with a distance of 55.37 meters (181-08) and Christian McDonald won the javelin with a mark of 58.31 meters (191-04).
