HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University men's basketball program, under the direction of second-year coach Donnie Jones, will hold a series of basketball camps this summer headed by Jones and his coaching staff at the Cam Henderson Center. The Little Herd Camp, for boys and girls ages 6-10 years old, is a fundamental-based camp designed to give young basketball players a strong basketball foundation. There will be two sessions of Little Herd Camp to choose from. The first session (June 16-19) runs from 1-4 p.m. daily and the second session (July 14-17) begins at 9 a.m. each day and ends at 12 noon. The Team Camp is a two-day camp from June 20-21. Teams will get an opportunity to play against other area teams in a competitive environment under actual game conditions. Each team will play a minimum of five games in three competitive leagues: JV, small varsity and large varsity. The final string of summer camps is an Individual Boys' Night Camp and Individual Boys' Day Camp. These camps offer high-level instruction and intense challenges for campers who want to work on individual skills. Both camps are for boys ages 11-18 and lodging is available. The Night Camp (June 22-25) begins each day at 2 p.m. The Day Camp (July 27-30) begins on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. with each subsequent day running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jones, a two-time national champion as an assistant with the Florida Gators, took the reins of the Thundering Herd in 2007-08 and led MU to its first winning campaign in seven seasons. The Point Pleasant, W.Va., native and his well-qualified staff oversee all aspects of the camp using their expertise, guidance and leadership to increase all campers' abilities in the game of basketball. "Our goal is to give you the most information and instruction we can to make you a more complete basketball player," Jones said. "The camp schedule is jam-packed with instructional tips to make the most of your camp experience." Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and certificate.
