IRVING, Texas - SMU's Alex Skrypko is the Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week after winning his 10th consecutive match last week in No. 60 SMU's upset of league rival and No. 19 Rice. Skrypko won in straight sets in singles against both Rice and Southeastern Louisiana, while also winning his only doubles match of the week against the Owls. Memphis' Ashley Murdock is the Women's Tennis Player of the Week after stretching her winning streak to five straight matches with a pair of C-USA victories at No. 1. Murdock is now 14-4 overall on the season and 3-0 against league competition.
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (4/8)
ALEX SKRYPKO - SMU

Skrypko won his 10th-straight singles match Saturday for No. 60 SMU, defeating Ralph Knupfer of No. 19 Rice in straight sets at No. 3, 6-0, 6-3. He also downed Ondrej Krivka of Southeastern Louisiana in straight sets at No. 3 by the same score of, 6-0, 6-3, earlier in the week. Skrypko's singles record for the season now stands at 14-6 (.700). In doubles, Skrypko paired with Adolfo Solares at No. 2 to down Chong Wang and Tobias Scheil of Rice, 8-6. The duo's record is now 3-1 (.750) on the season, and Skrypko's overall doubles record is 9-5 (.643). This is the second career C-USA weekly honor for Skrypko (Feb. 15, 2006).
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (4/8)
ASHLEY MURDOCK - Memphis

Murdock stretched her winning streak to five straight matches with a pair of C-USA victories at No. 1 last weekend She improved to 14-4 on the season and 8-4 at No. 1 singles with the two wins agasint UTEP and UAB. Murdock is now 3-0 against C-USA competition after joining Memphis in January from LSU. Murdock also went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Majorie Ondeck, defeating Weronika Blocynska and Marmonie Chatagner from UTEP and Evelien Stiyker and Antonio Nugent of UAB. The duo is now 8-7 in doubles play this season, including a 5-6 mark at No. 1 doubles and a 3-1 mark at No. 2. The 4-0 team win over UTEP was Memphis' first C-USA regular season victory since Feb. 25, 2005.
