IRVING, Texas - Tulsa cracked the Top 10 in the latest ITA men's tennis rankings coming in at No. 9, while Rice is No. 24, SMU is No. 46 and UAB is No. 67. The Mustangs notched a 5-0 win over the Owls last Sunday to jump 14 spots in the rankings.
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (4/8)
ASHLEY MURDOCK - Memphis

Murdock stretched her winning streak to five straight matches with a pair of C-USA victories at No. 1 last weekend She improved to 14-4 on the season and 8-4 at No. 1 singles with the two wins agasint UTEP and UAB. Murdock is now 3-0 against C-USA competition after joining Memphis in January from LSU. Murdock also went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Majorie Ondeck, defeating Weronika Blocynska and Marmonie Chatagner from UTEP and Evelien Stiyker and Antonio Nugent of UAB. The duo is now 8-7 in doubles play this season, including a 5-6 mark at No. 1 doubles and a 3-1 mark at No. 2. The 4-0 team win over UTEP was Memphis' first C-USA regular season victory since Feb. 25, 2005.

Conference USA will name a male and female tennis Athlete of the Week throughout the regular season. The weekly accolades are selected by the media relations department and announced every Tuesday throughout the season.

MICHAEL GAERTHOEFFNER - Memphis

Gaerthoeffner came back from a 6-4 second set loss on the road at Southern Miss to win a third set tiebreaker, 8-6 to secure a 4-3 Tiger victory Saturday. The C-USA win was the first of the season for Memphis and improved Gaerthoeffner's record to 18-11 overall and 10-8 in dual season play. Playing No. 4 singles, Gaerthoeffner is now 8-6 in his freshman season.
VICTOR KOLIK - Tulsa

Kolik picked up two wins over ranked opponents in Tulsa's two road matches. Against C-USA rival Rice, Kolik defeated No. 49 Christoph Muller, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 2 position in TU's 4-1 victory over No. 19 Rice. Against No. 6 Texas, Kolik picked up the Golden Hurricane's only win with a 6-2, 6-2, victory over No. 22 Kellen Damico at the No. 2 position. With his two victories, Kolik is now 11-3 on the season.
